90 acres to be added to Baltimore Woods Nature Center in Marcellus

MARCELLUS, N.Y. — Baltimore Woods Nature Center and the Central New York Land Trust plan to acquire 90 acres to add to the nature center in Marcellus, the organizations said Tuesday.

The acquisition will expand the nature center to more than 270 acres, the groups’ announced.

The land, south of the existing nature center property, will allow the nature center to expand its trail system, offer new environmental education programs and increase research opportunities.

Baltimore Woods’ headquarters on Bishop Hill Road was the first of 48 natural areas the land trust acquired. In all, the release said the land trust has preserved 2,800 acres.
