Central New York wetlands include fine examples of bogs and fens, two general peatland types that are quite different in water chemistry and other hydrologic characteristics. These peatlands include significant numbers of some of New York’s most interesting species like many terrestrial orchids and carnivorous plants and some truly rare species.
