Our region is home to incredible natural resources: inspiring forests, scenic lakes and rivers, unique geological features - all open spaces in which we should take great pride to have in our community.  These landscapes provide critical habitat for people, plants and wildlife to thrive.

 

But these healthy habitats are quickly disappearing - threatened by climate change and poorly planned development.

You can help ensure that Central New York's extraordinary open spaces are preserved forever by donating to Central New York Land Trust today with a monthly or one time gift.

 

Together with people like you, we can save help ensure that these beautiful places are still here for the next generation and their children.

 

In the last year alone, we have used gifts to:

  • purchase 98 acres with 600 feet of lakefront on Skaneateles Lake in the Town of  Spafford;
  • work with volunteers to raise $84,000+ for the Campaign to Save Pleasant Valley in the Town of Onondaga;
  • create a Watershed Education Center at 7 Fennell Street with satellite location, complete with a driveway and parking lot, at High Hickory Wildlife Sanctuary in the Town of Spafford;
  • work with other local partners to highlight the need for clean water in Skaneateles Lake, a critical drinking source for the city of Syracuse residents;
  • begin a meadow restoration at High Hickory; 
  • plant trees and restore the stone wall at Woodchuck Hill Field & Forest Preserve in the Towns of Manlius & Dewitt;
  • conduct arial surveys of nine of our preserves;
  • maintain trails, clean preserves, post boundaries and take care of trees on our preserves, and much more.
